Horseback trail riding in LA Mision Baja CA

Ride with Carla 034

Watering hole on the way up to the ranch.

Yesterday we hauled our horses out to La Mision, (about 45 minutes from Ensenada) to go trail riding out in the backcountry with some of our new friends. It was a nice change of scenery off the “free” with road with views of grape vineyards and rolling hills.

We rode for about 4.5 hours on  a road passing farm land, and little Mexican villas. Our destination was an old rancho.

Once there, we saw huge fruit trees, orange, loquat trees. We were able to sit under the shade and let the horses graze while we ate our lunch and picked fruit by an old manmade pond with a water fall. We couldn’t think of a better way to spend a warm afternoon in Baja. On the way back to the starting point we rode back up through an old riverbed, under a bridge, up the other side to where the hitching post was  (the local bar, LOL!).
